What To Expect At Our First Meeting

Criminal charges are some of the most frightening and stressful matters people face in their lifetimes. They worry about going to prison, losing their jobs, their homes or their futures. It can feel as if nothing will ever be the same.

At my Boulder law practice, I understand the fears my clients have. During our first meeting, I talk with them about these fears and help put their minds at ease by giving them information about the legal system and the charges they face.

Providing Individual Attention To Your Case

If you schedule a free and confidential consultation with me, here is what to expect:

  • Help from someone who won't judge you. I treat my clients with empathy — never judging them for the charges they face. I am truly on your side. My goal is to help you protect your rights and future.
  • Information about what you are up against. I can walk you through each step of the criminal process, helping you to understand what you should expect in the next few days, weeks and months. I can explain what actions we should take to protect your rights and put you in a position to achieve the best possible results.
  • Clear expectations. You will also learn exactly what you can expect from me, as well as what you can expect to pay for representation. I make my fees clear so that clients know the commitment they are making and can plan accordingly.
  • Clear communication. We will establish clear lines of communication so that you can always get in touch with your criminal defense lawyer when you have a question or want an update on your case.
  • Next steps. Each case is different, but I generally take a proactive approach. If you retain me, I can help with getting a bond and a court date, determining what the filing charges are, getting access to the police report, negotiating with prosecutors and other important matters related to your case.
